I purchased the Dolphin branded unit. It is the same product. There must have been some reason they changed the name?? The unit still works as well today as 6 months ago. I am very happy with it and would highly recommend!

I got the Dolphin version for Christmes. I put it on today. Seems to work perfectly. The signal starts with slow beeps then quick beeps and finally a steady beep. I stopped. My back bumper was exactly 3 feet from the object.
My wife paid $179 for it plus tax and shipping/handling.

Is the unit actually strong enough to be a step, too? TIA

Why was the product previously discontinued? Are there any changes or improvements from when people were looking at it 2+ years ago in 2007 vs 2009?

The products was not continued at all, It was just more difficult to purchase it (through phone order due to website difficulties and other issues.)

The product has also not changed, it is still the great product that it one was, and still functions brilliantly.

Thanks.

I ended up searching for a few days and found it on ebay, nib and with shipping I paid $121.00 delivered to my door. It works well, but you have to back up slow as it takes it a few seconds to pick up items. Works fine for regular parking lot duty, but if you back out of a spot where you know what is behind you and get close to it, it then sounds. That is the only drawback i see. If you take you time (like I should) it works great. For the price i could not afford not to get after having the back up systems for years on previous vehicles. Plugs into your 7 pin connector for power and reverse auto off/on. I don't think i would have paid 250 for it, but looking at the higher priced alternatives it may have come down to it. Just type in name in ebay they had a few when i bought mine and came like new in box. Could not tell if it had ever been open.

Spenser, i have got to do some backing up in a few places like parking lots as at office and docks we always back in so in the event of an emergency, the first movement you make is straight out of there. It has been a help as backing up as approaching to park in between 2 vehicles on each side, it picks them up until you bumper is in between the two, then as you back up to the curb it picks it up also. I have not had to do any single lane parking in between 2 vehicles though. Hope i don't have to. Sooner or later i will get stuck though. It goes to steady beeping at 3 feet. Beyond 3 foot mark, it is constant and irritable, but you know about where you are at.

Have since used the Dolphin unit for actual parallel parking and it worked great. One problem i see is during hard rain it picks up the rain and gives you interment beeps before you ever get close. It picks up the curbs as you are backing up to so know where you are backing or you will be 3 feet from the curb when you get out of your truck. Happened a few times. Once it gets over the curb reading you can come on back.. Handy little dude!!!
