I have a new sr5 with the standard radio, several times the vol. control just quits working, it spins, but doesn't change the volume. After a while it works again. Anybody else have this?
Yes, both problems on same truck. Sometimes it comes back when I change channel, sometimes when I change bands, sometimes when I turn radio on/off, sometimes when I turn ignition off/on. No rhyme or reason, and it seems to be getting more frequent.
Is the JBL audio much of an upgrade for an average radio user?
I just hate the idea of those "mechanics" tearing into the dash of my new baby. It took them 2 hours to replace the outside gasket for the drivers door handle. Hate my truck being their learning mule.
Mine has done that a couple times. The steering wheel controls still work but the knob itself doesn't. Go figure. I turn it off then back on and it works. Funny thing is my 4 runner did the same thing.

Had the same problem, but with the Bass/Treble/Fade/etc knob. Happened 2 days into my new purchase. I think there is a short because when I pushed on the area where the knob is located, it worked fine. Not sure if a wire was pinched or what. But I am going to take it in since everyone is saying they will replace it.
Mike's going in in the morning. Service manager said he hadn't heard of the problem.

My sound control knob went out the first week I had the truck, also my 6 disc CD locks up every now and then. I didn't want this radio when I purchased the truck. I figured I complain when I schedule the dreaded first oil change.
"Mike" and I went in this morning, (I guess I should read my posts before I post them) without even looking at it, service mgr. said he would order a new unit. Regarding the rear seat tilt latch, they looked around for a while and told me they had to order an entire seat frame assembly, and it would take a whole day to install in the upholstery dept. I hope they can do both in one day. Anyone know how difficult the radio removal is?
