Finally, I can install the head unit. I'm using an Alpine IVA-D105 multi-media unit.
Since I cannot install my own amplifiers, I have to use the JBL for now. I bought a Axxess TYTO-01 level shifter/harness to connect the two together. You can see it here along with the zillion wires from the head:
The navigation unit needs a connection to the speed sensor. Again looking in the schematics, I find it conveniently is located in one of the harnesses that was connected to the JBL:
It is pin 4 of connecter K9. Looks like this:
Also required from the JBL harness is the connections for the steering wheel controls. The schematic shows it to be pins 6,7 and 8 on connecter K3 (brown, light green and grey):
Don't think I mentioned it earlier but all spliced connections are protected with heat shrink:

You mentioned you will use fiber optic digital out instead of Axxess TYTO-01 in future. I am planning on installing W205 and use digital out to MRA F350 Amplifier/5.1 processor. From there i want to connect it to factory non JBL system. Can you please tell me if there is wiring harness available that i can connect to original speaker harness?
I am attaching the connection diagram for F350 amplifier. I will run the sub woofer separaetly but want to use factory speakers. Any comments on how the non-JBL speaker will perform?
I am a bit naive on Audio Systems hence i want to know if what i am thinking is even possible.
if you have the NON JBL system in your vehicle now you will need to add a center-channel speaker for that AMP. The NON JBL system does not have a center channel speaker just an empty hole. As for wiring harness you can get a standard Toyota wiring harness to plug in behind the head-unit to use the factory wiring for the speakers. If your using the factory speakers you will be fine, you will be disappointed with the audio quality and will eventually want new speakers thus you should also run quality speaker wire to each speaker.

Millsp, thanks for the info. That empty box is under the front dash clock area? I may upgrade the speakers and audio wires in future but i want to stay in a limited budget for now.
I am attaching the picture of wiring harness from toyota. Is this the one you are talking about?
Yes the grill on the dash under the clock is empty unless you have the JBL system. There is space for you to put your own speaker. That harness doesn't look familiar. All you need is a Wiring harness for integrating a After market Stereo to the trucks wiring. You can get them locally at most all Circuit City's and Best Buy install shops for around $15 or online for about $5 Looks like this.
The harness will allow you to use the Factory Plugs and provide Power, Ground, Illumination, Switched power and Speaker wires for the truck.
Where ever you mount the amp you will run the speaker wires from the amp to behind the HU to connect to the purchased harness and plug into the factory plug to feed the speakers you will need to run a Direct set of wires to feed the center channel that you put in the dash.
What would you do in my case when I have an after market head unit and I want to hook up a center channel? I have a 4 channel amp but all the channels are being used up on 4 doors.
Well without a processor you are not truly getting the same affect I.E. your center channel will be mixed audio just like the rest of the speakers not Voice dominant like a center channel is meant to be. That being said. If your Four channel amp has RCA outs which most do you could feed that to a small Two channel amp hide it somewhere and feed that center speaker with one of the channels. Then use the sensitivity controls on that little amp to control the volume of that center speaker. Set it at the highest level volume you listen to your system and you should have no problems. This should run you less than $100.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I'll go with I have now first, then if I feel I'm lacking in the center channel department, I'll do that. For now, I have enough wrapped up in all this.
Also don't forget your HU has four channels not being used since your using an AMP.... The HU has an internal AMP thats just sitting there not being used since I'm assuming you ran RCAs from it to the amp. The only problem you may run into is volume control. If you have a spare speaker connect it up and try it out. Even cheaper in solution
Yeah, I thought that too but didnt know if it would work. I have some older Boston Rally RC41's (4") sitting around that may work. I do have all RCA's going to the amps, so those internal wires should work... huh? I'll give it a shot when I start doing all the install in the next couple weeks. Wont be true center channel, but maybe help with the sound stage. Heck, its probably gonna sound perfect even without it so I'll try it with just the new door speakers first, then see where I'm at.
PS-RagE, I read almost all of the post and my hats off to you and your wife, she must like the truck, mine would go ballistic if I wore apart a brand new truck. Your mod are awsom. I only have one question, what replacement speakers would you suggest for the dash, I am looking for as little mods to the dash speakers. I have Polk 651s for replacing my door speakers, I have a DC.

Dunno, not replacing the dash speakers. I understand they are just little fellows

Any more updates coming? I love all of the step by step pics although it makes me want to blow a big load of cash
Next week I've got to deaden the rear doors. Should be able to assemble the sub/amp rack soon. The majority of the parts are in for it now. Sounds like those Type X components should be shipping soon too
