The brass mount for the radio antennas has a rubber O-ring and it is lubricated with silicon grease before tightening down. That GPS antenna is only sealed with the 3M adhesive so I put RTV on it from the inside.

Finally, I can install the head unit. I'm using an Alpine IVA-D105 multi-media unit.
Since I cannot install my own amplifiers, I have to use the JBL for now. I bought a Axxess TYTO-01 level shifter/harness to connect the two together. You can see it here along with the zillion wires from the head:
The navigation unit needs a connection to the speed sensor. Again looking in the schematics, I find it conveniently is located in one of the harnesses that was connected to the JBL:
It is pin 4 of connecter K9. Looks like this:
Also required from the JBL harness is the connections for the steering wheel controls. The schematic shows it to be pins 6,7 and 8 on connecter K3 (brown, light green and grey):
I need both B+ and switched B+ for all the electronics. I fed a temporary run of #10 from the battery, through the firewall to the driver's side kick panel (temporary because I will be bringing a heavy line to the amplifiers later). Switched B+ is a bit more of a trick though. I discovered the cigarette lighter is a true ignition switch turning immediately on and off with the key. I don't smoke anymore and the plug is covered by the radio head so I cut the switched line from it and fed it over to the coil of a 30A relay:

Very nice work and nicely documented. I still can't get over those holes in the roof, I just don't think I could do it!
On the video feed, is the power switched? If not I assume the camera stays on whenever the truck is on? I believe factory design is to have the camera on in reverse only. I would be afraid of the camera burning out after prolonged use.

Yes, I have the camera on ignition switched power. These little CCD cameras can run 24/7 so keeping it powered while the truck is running is not a concern.
As for the holes - its gotta be done. Mag bases scratch and their cables vibrating in the wind wear out the paint. On-glass sucks. Permanent mounts look better and work better.

If the cigarette lighter is connected the same way the 12 volt power points are connected then you might have a problem. If the power point is feeding power to anything, then the power is not cut off when the key is removed. It actually keeps feeding power to the device for 20 minutes(?). It might be longer. So using it as an ACC switch might not be a great idea.
The cig lighter is true switched - it shuts off immediately with the ignition.

nice work. i hope you plan on keeping your vehicles for awhile, because drilling the holes in the roof will deter some buyers...

In Northern Ontario, half the vehicles on the road are pickups and half of those have antennas permanently mounted in the roof. If I were to sell it though, I would cap off the antenna mounts. The truck is so tall (I'll show that later as well) that the caps would not be visible.

The attention to detail and what appears to be the mindset of "doing it right" IE cardboard sub box ect is impressive. I and trying to figure out how to mount/box my 3 JL 10's. Nice work. Keep us posted.
How did you connect the stock camera wiring to the head unit? I saw where you extended the wires from the overhead. Did you have to do anything special to use it with the head unit?
Nope, nothing special. It is spliced it to a composite cable.

Just got back from holidays - thus the lack of update posts - and got some pics of the latest mods that were completed before I left. Had a Toytec 3" lift put on, installed some Toyo Open Country A/T 305/55/20, debadged and the lettering done:
The guy did an awesome job - took him 18 hours! The logos and lettering of Motorola are actually cut-outs so the blue showing through is the paint.
