Finally, I can install the head unit. I'm using an Alpine IVA-D105 multi-media unit.
Since I cannot install my own amplifiers, I have to use the JBL for now. I bought a Axxess TYTO-01 level shifter/harness to connect the two together. You can see it here along with the zillion wires from the head:
The navigation unit needs a connection to the speed sensor. Again looking in the schematics, I find it conveniently is located in one of the harnesses that was connected to the JBL:
It is pin 4 of connecter K9. Looks like this:
Also required from the JBL harness is the connections for the steering wheel controls. The schematic shows it to be pins 6,7 and 8 on connecter K3 (brown, light green and grey):
Awsome work. Now i think this is piece of cake for you.I need to connect this LOC to the factory HU.Here is the back of the HU.And a picture of the LOC.How i can connect this?Im goin to use 2 woofers 2 amps,2 6x9 speakers and 2 6x5 for the back drs.Im using this because lack of money rigth now.Any help in this plz.Thank's in advance.I check you'r web site and look like you like computers too?I have mine overcloked you into this too?I need to know what cable is what?Power, ground ect ect.One of those plugs is only for the cd player?Or any good shorth cut for this install?

So, yes, it has been awhile since I've updated this project - and for a good reason. Finally, over the holidays, I have had time to work on the next step.
To start, this time I am really tearing it down:
There are a lot of little pieces that make up the interior - whew
Now, I've got 140 square feet of this stuff to get in there:
I was surprised at first that it was not silver-backed like the dynamat I used in the last truck. However, once I started working with it, I discovered that with a heatgun and a saturation roller I could get results like this:
I am way too anal when it comes to this sort of thing I completely did the entire floor/backwall and firewall as though it had to be waterproof:
That was about 22 hours worth of work. This also allowed me to totally clean up all my aftermarket wiring.
So tomorrow is to figure out how this puzzle goes back together and hopefully get the rear doors done.

Availability. It was the brand the local Audiotronics dealer could get the most of the quickest. I'll be using alot of Tsunami parts with this build (as you'll see later)

So as I prepare to begin reassembly, I realized that now is the ideal time to run my heavy power feeds to the back wall.
I have a box of 60' of 1/0 welding cable that I bought back in August:
I cut it half and ran the two wires down the passenger side cable trough:
This is some pretty big wire and I have to get it through the firewall. While creeping under the truck, I found a rubber plug that opened into a convenient spot on the passenger side and fished the big wires through it:
Once under the truck, the wires are protected with a large loom. I followed another harness along the frame up through the wheel well:
I hate working in the engine compartment. I don't know what it is but it seems every time I loosen something, it falls off and its fastener disappears into the unknown - never to be seen again. I swear I must have wasted at least 2 hours looking for dropped nuts and bolts.
Anyway, the wires come straight up the fire wall:
Under the CAI:
And over the radiator to a location where I could flat mount the 250A fuse. This is behind a plastic air dam I removed. You know, for such a large truck I am always having a hell of a time finding places to mount things.
OK - break's over. Got to get this thing assembled tonight. Not driving that Astro again!

Pretty easy. It is held down with velcro strips in the front and plastic clips at the sides.
There is two big pieces: front and back. The front section had a skinny piece holding the left and right sides together but to save the headache of having to deal with a large, flimsy piece, I cut it in half. It is inside the center console so no one will ever notice.

can you tell me where the cross bars are running when you took out the roof liner. It will help me install over head system and avoid unecessary cuts in the liner.
