Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "07 Dash kit available", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
It is kinda ugly, I bought it to get me by while a piano finish was created. I even bought the pioneer avic-d3 because it was glossy and 2-DIN. I was hoping for a factory look but the dash kit kills it.

The factory finish wouldn't survive shipping, it would get too scratched up. I am a professional installer and all we use is AI kits. The tacoma dash kit is just downright awful. It is a satin/textured silver color and doesn't match anything in the tacoma. I haven't seen a tundra kit in person yet. I plan on sanding and painting my kit whenever I put a radio in my tundra.
Edit: Dixie you stole my idea on the D3!!!! Not really, but I was planning on a D3 with a glossy finish on my kit
PM me with your email address, and I'll send you a few pdfs that describe the process. The instructions have great pictures, and made it very easy to do. Takes 30minutes the first time, just because I was SOOOO careful. Second and third time took about 5 minutes max (to pull apart the dash).
