Default Replacing the double cab JBL subwoofer with aftermarket

I am VERY happy with the JBL sound system in my double cab...except for the bass. It's decent, but still a little lacking.

FYI Crew Max Limited subwoofer sounds much better.

I am considering replacing the JBL subwoofer in my double cab with an aftermarket custom box and a JBL subwoofer. Should I plan on replacing the amp too? Anyone know if there is a decent single channel amp out there that accepts high level inputs (are the inputs into the JBL sub high level for that matter?)

Thanks,

Aaron

Cool Re: Replacing the double cab JBL subwoofer with aftermarket

I did, it made a world of difference. I used some parts I had in my garage that are "middle of the road" and it still was a major improvement. I removed the sub that was in th jbl box and then had to modify it (cut out a little on the top) to place in an 8" RF punch sub (although removing the jbl sub and replacing it with a shallow mount sub would be a better choice). I also added a 2 channel amp with high level inputs under the smaller seat. About 125w rms runs to sub. I anticiapted I would build a box and use 2 10" subs in the future but now I dont think there is a need. It cranks plenty loud and makes a somewhat avg JBL system much better.

Originally I was going to upgrad the entire system, now I think I will just replace the front components and leave it alone and spend the money elsewhere on the truck
