Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Aftermarket Double-din install", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I getting ready to install a pioneer AVIC-Z1. I have searched google, the forums, and ebay and have only come up with a single double din kit that has a grainy grey finish. Most of my dash is sort of a shiny black. Does anyone know anywhere I can custom order one with that finish?

Ya that's the one I saw also, it has that ugly grey finish. On my old 05' Altima after installing the Kenwood ddx6019 i lost control over some of my computer functions (trip computer, outside temp., etc.). That was easily fixed after installing the steering wheel control adaptor.
BTW super noob question but since i got my car at the dumbest dealer in the world, how do i know what radio i have?

Not sure what wiring problems you are talking about since the wiring harness for the stereo is the same as the previous model Tundras. My installer had absolutely no problems installing mine. Check out Schose (sp?) for the piano black finish dash kits. I have the duller grey and like it since it doesnt show dust and finger prints.

What he said (Scoshe) for the shiny black kit... I think it is $39.95.
FYI. They have sold out of their first production run. They are 30 days from completing their second run. Call Scocshe and they will route you to a distributor who they've shipped the kits to.

I just got confirmation that my kit shipped on 8/2. I ordered it in June. Should have it on wed. I will post pics of the kit as Im still scrounging up the cash for the Eclipse nav unit.
So it is confirmed that the Info computer is not linked to the stereo right? I am going to be calling about this kit Monday. I have my Alpine on ebay now because I only saw the ugly gray kit and I was not having that. I may take it off and put my alpine in.
