Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Speakers in rear wall on CM?", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Has anybody tried to cut into the rear wall of the crewmax behind the back seat to install any speakers? I have the non-JBL system and though the 4 door speakers and the dash speakers are ok, I thought that it would be even better if I can manage to get a couple of good "large" speakers coming from the back as well (though the seats may ultimatel muffle much of the sound). I just don't know how much space is between the plastic and the actual metal wall, but I think I recall seeing speakers there on a JBL 12-speaker system... I honestly don't remember for sure, so I could be wrong, but I would like to find out if somebody has done that yet or not. That way I can get 8 "active" speakers in the vehicle!
There is very little room behind that plastic and behind the metal behind that plastic is the Sliding rear window frame space. So no you can't install speakers there. However you can build a box for speakers with shallow depth subs to fit behind the seat or you can do what I did and install this
