That is one hell of a magnet and voice coil on those bad boys...
Now I kind of wonder what my JBL "upgrades" look like.

I used the stock head unit and got speakers that would work well with the stock unit..the install was easy once I figured out how to remove the door panel..the back speakers were a little harder but not much.

Were the Alpine direct fit or did you have to tweek them to install? What Alpines did you go with?

Did you replace the dash speakers or only the doors? If so how hard was it to get in their to swap those out? Did you use the factory mounts or aftermarket in the doors? What do you mean worked well for the stock deck? As far as RMS output?

They were a direct fit in the front, no adapters needed..the back I used the adapters that came with the speakers; I drilled and screwed the adapter/speaker to to the door and it fit into the stock speaker hole..

I replaced the doors; I did not want to tackle taking the dash apart and there is not much of a selection for the dash speakers. I used the factor holes in the front and the supplied bracket plate for the rears...

When I ordered from Crutchfield they recommended the Alpines as the best bang for the buck for the stock head unit. If you order from them they will tell you that the speakers will not fit and you will need to dremel down the bracket and the grille on the door but they are wrong...
