No updates as of yet other than the economy is affecting JL just like everyone else. The individual I was working with called me last week to inform me he had been let go after 11 years with the company and I would be dealing with a new project manager. I'll let everyone know when my next appointment is.
just got my 13tw5... getting my custom enclosure tomorrow... mine is going in place of my stock jbl sub with a few mods to the back panel...
i am going to accompany it with a jl 500 slash, jl 450/4, jl cr's front, jl xr's rear components... and a jl cleansweep... trying to keep the stock look... i would be interested in seeing some other installs...
i designed my own encloser per jl volume specs....

Sounds like a nice setup. When they where testing the prototype in my truck they learned that the enclosure was too large even though it was built to their specs. You may need to adjust the enclosure volume to get the sound you want in your CM.
Similar set up to what you're planning. Due to space constraints, I went with JL 10's behind the rear seat in a sealed enclosure. I have JL components in all four doors along with a clean sweep in the dash. As you'll see in the 'room lost' photo, I ended up losing about 2 inches of space as a result of box size. I've been closely watching this thread as I'm very anxious in seeing the finished enclosure for the 13TW5. If I can get back the 2 inches lost while improving bass quality, I may be interested in the upgrade. Good luck with your system install,

well too big is alot easier to fix than too small. i think they usually stuff cotton or something similar in there, if the enclosure is too big. beats building a whole new enclosure.

Just the opposite actually poly-fill is added to the enclosure to simulate more space than is actually there. Solid filler I.E. wood is added to reduce volume.
I do agree though it is easier to reduce volume in the same enclosure without having to build a new one.
In JL's case building a new one is the only option as the final product has to meet their quality standards as well as the customers standards for such an expensive setup.

FYI - The sub enclosure i designed for my 13wt5 sub is in my photo album. I ran it past a a tech at jl and he said it was the correct volume according to their cut sheet. I also inquired about using dynaxorb on the back of the inside of the box. He said poly-fill would do the same thing. i am doing my own install so it might take a while but i am going to finish the sub enclosure first... i will post pics soon...

TEXCREW...how deep is your box on the bottom? did you install the cleensweep equip. yourself?
i am assuming you had to get the ssi with it....
i think i am going to take my orig. sub out and mod. the back panel to get it as far back as possible. thanks for the advice!

Reason: SPECIFICS
My box is right at 9 inches deep on the bottom. The clean sweep equipment and everything else was installed by a company called Earmark. They've done several of my vehicles in the past and always do clean work. I never listen to CD's so I've been extremely happy with the clean sweep and factory head unit. Correct, the SSI was installed as well. Sorry, I think I missed that detail in my original post.

I am guessing yours didnt come with orig. sub?
i am also guessing you dont want to cut into the rear panel for extra depth? Where are you other amps? I am thinking about putting the 4 ch amp under the drivers seat where most of the speakers terminate - and putting the sub amp similar to your but on the passenger side.
you installer does a clean job very nice!

I'm using a JL 6 channel amp to drive my components and subs. Nope, I didn't opt for the JBL system since I knew I'd be replacing the factory stereo immediately. The price I paid for my entire system installed by a professional was less than the upgrade option through Toyota. Nope, not interested in cutting into the back panel to obtain additional space. I'd rather see what this new JL Stealth box will look and fit like...may consider selling current subs and box in lieu of the new box from JL. And, thanks for the compliments on the install...the system I had in my Tacoma that they did was incredible. It's amazing what 2 JL 8's in a sealed enclosure can do given the proper amplification.
I got 2 13tw5's in CM in a sealed enclosure its 40x20x5. currently i kave a Kicker 600.1 on them but ima bout to upgrade to Sundown Audio SAE 1000D to put a little more power to them. they are wired down to 1.5 ohms which is lower than the Kicker 600.1 is rated(2 ohm). also for highs i have JL a6450 mount underneath rear seat with all Infinity Kappa 6.5's in doors and 3.5's in dash along with 10.9t 1'' tweeter up on top of A-pillar.
