Default JL Audio CrewMax Stealth Box Update

Just got back from the JL Audio design center. They took measurements of the truck and brought out a few speakers to see about fit. They determined that the best fit would be the new Shallow depth speakers their about to release. They had a few blank cages of the speakers and they look like they will fit pretty well. They where thinking either two 10's or 12's but they will decide in the fab process. They will be calling me again in three weeks to begin the internal fab on the truck. They mentioned that the shallow speakers would most likely be ready by January due to the fact that their show car has them installed and will be at CES in January. I'll keep you all informed going forward.

I spoke with the on tuesday and they told me they were shelving the project until next year. He told me they had alot more obligations than the CM stealth box and that it would be definitely next june before they had a production box ready.

millsp just said they are starting prefab on his CM so 6 months to production seems pretty fast if you ask me.

Don't know what to say. Maybe they where just letting you down easy. They did tell me it would take 4 to 5 months for the box to be commercially ready. I have to leave the truck with them on 4 to 5 different days over the next two months.

Default JL Audio CrewMax Stealth Box Update

Well it's been a long time but I finally received a call from JL Audio today. We have scheduled March 10th for them to start fabricating the Stealth Box off of my Crew Max. Currently they are thinking 2 13" shallow mount subs. I'll keep you all informed of the progress.

Initial mock up was yesterday. They have decided to go with two 13" shallows. I got to look at the speakers and they are incredible. Have another appointment in 2 weeks followed by 2 more after that. Three months from there for production and The Stealth box will be available.

Got a call yesterday that they where short handed and it would be about a week before they needed my truck for the Prototype fitting. If I had to estimate a time I would have to say August/September.

Can you explain how it's supposed to actually go into the truck? Like is it against the back wall or under the seat. Just wondering because I would like to move my amps in anticipation of where this thing is going to end up.

It will go on the back wall drivers side. It is Custom formed out of fiberglass and will fit the grooves of the back panel. No cutting or trimming will be required. Since the speakers they are using are their new 13" shallow mounts there will be no loss of seat space either. From what I've seen so far it will be about as long as the seat it's behind.

Their facility is amazing. I got to handle the new speakers and they are incredible. The engineering is first class. And they are heavy. I am a RF Engineer and I was truly impressed by their operation.

I guess it's all relative. Most people paid 30k and up for the CrewMax so what's another grand for an extreme Sub system made to fit???
