    Default Installing Pioneer AVIC D3?????

Hey guys i'll be installing an avic d3 in my tundra cm. i've been doing alot of research on installing the avic d3 with the scosche kit it seems fairly easy (correct me if I'm wrong) just wondering if anyone has any pointers for me. I have the non-jbl system with the 6 disc changer. Wondering if I need to buy a wiring harness too or do the wires just crimp together thanks!

I have the D3. Also had the non-jbl. You need a harness.

    EZ.

Start from the bottom and work your way up. Grab the inside of the tray closest to the center console directly below the radio. Yank it straight out.

Next you need to tilt and extend your steering wheel down. Grab the gauge cluster cover thingy by grabbing the gauge dial covers with both hands and yank it toward you.
You have to do this to get the AC unit out. You don't fully remove it, just loosen it so you can slide the left dial of the AC unit out from behind it.

Grab the AC unit from underneath and pull it out toward you.

Take 4 bolts out of the head unit. It's obvious which 4. Unplug the wires on the back and reverse the procedure. You're done.

Goto Crutchfield.com and buy the harness if your using factory speakers.

I could do this in less than 10 minutes because I've done them before.

Enjoy that new D3...Best unit for the money.

I have the D3 in my crewmax, and love it. The install was VERY easy. As the others mentioned, buy the harness from Crutchfield, splice all your wires in the comfort of your home (I would spend the extra 10 mins and properly solder them). When you have the harness spliced into the D3, simply plug it into the harness of your crewmax.

PM me, if you want a pdf describing the process of pulling your dash apart. It's for the factory NAV, but it's pretty interchangeable. I placed my antenna in the spot that the pdf recommends. I get great signal...

    Good luck,
    Gary

    Hi,
Check the link in my signature. It has a few pix of it. I used the metra kit...which was BEFORE the glossy finish came out.

I can't help you on the new scosche kit, since mine is metra. As for the harness, I used this one:

Receiver Wire Harness For select Geo, Lexus, Scion, and Toyota models, 1987-up at Crutchfield.com

Thanks for the compliments! The leather was installed by a Katzkin installer here in San Diego. I paid $1195 for the leather plus labor. It turned out amazing - even better than my wife's factory leather in her Sequoia.

Go to katzkin.com --> Products --> Search for your interior

Once you select your vehicle, there will be a zip code search of installers at the bottom of the page.

    Have a great night!
