Default Which Scion stereo for a '00 Tundra

I searched the previous posts and there are alot of great writeups and information, but still a bit confused. Which Scion stereo will be a direct plug in for a '00 Tundra (with non-JBL, single disc CD with tape)? I want to connect an MP3/IPOD to it too. I bought a cassette adapter only to find out that the cassette player in my Tundra doesn't work very well (swooshing and garbly sounds coming straight out the mouth for the cassette...

I found some issues with the Scions not being a "perfect" fit and can deal with that, but don't want to have wiring problems/issues.

THanks for any help...

Default Re: Which Scion stereo for a '00 Tundra

I have installed a Scion/Pioneer model 1808 in my 04 Rav4. In the Rav it is a plug and play replacement for the factory double din unit. I like the 1808 because it has real knobs for volume and tuning and is Ipod compatible. Based on my research the best way to hook up an Ipod to this unit is with a cable available from a guy on ebay who makes a customized Ipod to radio cable that allows all the functionality of the Ipod to work with the 1808; including charging the Ipod and being able to see file name on the face of the radio. Apparently it is impossible to buy the correct Scion cables from Toyota and this guy on ebay has solved that problem for those installing Ipod compatible Scion radios in other Toyota products. Search ebay for Scion Ipod cable. It is the only one for $70 shipped.
