Default HPF on amplifier

I have a problems.

1) Engine Noise
2) HPF on amplifier not doing anything

I have an powerbass asa 600.2

I have a rca ground loop thing(so thats not it)
I have ran rcas from outside the car to my trunk (so thats not it)

On my amplifier theres gain and hpf..

Moving the gain up and down changes the volume (like normal)
Moving the HPF up and down doesnt do a thing

Could my amp be bad because its sending bad noise and hpf not working?

is there a way to fix this someone please help!!!

Okay if you are trying to eliminate engine noise the HPF won't be the solution. All that does is filter out low frequencies below whatever the filter is set at.High Pass Filter(HPF) just the opposite of LPF low pass filter.Different vehicles pick up noise for different reasons. What is the thd% of the amp or head unit These numbers will tell you if the equipment is more prone to pick up engine noise.TDH Total Harmonic Distortion usually like .085% or something like that higher number more noise lower number less noise induction.

Try grounding the amp at a different place. Make sure the connection is clean (paint scraped from surrounding area), dont use a stock bolt that holds down something. try and keep the ground wire short, less than 12".

Check your line level in (RCA) and try a nother amp to see if the noise exists.

unplug the RCAs: if the problem/noise goes away it's HU. if it doesn't, it's the amp's ground (or amp itself)
