Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Factory Sirius Antenna", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Does anyone have a good picture of the factory Sirius Antenna that sticks to the winshield glass?
I want to get Sat Radio.....not fond of the Third Brake Light to route the wire. I like the idea of the glass installation.....just do not want a big black blob sticking to the windshield either.
Also.....can you tell me the approx length and width of the antenna?
I have one installed on my truck, works fine. Cuts out every now and then under trees and bridges, but I like to keep the exterior nice and clean. Have to compromise somewhere. Had to modify mine a little to let the auto dim mirror wire to pass through, so I ended up not using the included adhesive. Here ya go:

Is this the same unit that comes with the OEM Sirius Kit from Toyota?
It's the same one in dibble's photos. Have you tried a Toyota dealer?
There's an even smaller interior antenna used in some Lexus Sirius kits,I'll try to get the part # if it's available seperately.
That woudld be great if you could get that part number. I do not see how the one above would work in my truck......there is wiring for the mirror in that location. The pic above is from a pre 2007 Tundra. I thought I saw a pic of the one for the 2007-08 Tundra and it was a bit smaller. Just thought someone may have a better shot of it or could run out to their truck and snap a pic.
I cut a hole in my antenna to pass the mirror wire through, doesn't seem to harm the reception at all.

I do not have a write up, but can tell you that it is very easy to do. If your factory radio is setup to accept the factory style kit you can install it in less than an hour. Everything needed is either in the truck already or comes with the kit. I am very happy with mine other than the signal is spotty like others have mentioned. I do not live in an area with a lot of bridges or tunnels, so it really does not bother me.
My Sirius antenna is on my dash. Dead center on the small strip in front of the defrost vent. Used double sided tape to mount it. This was suggested at my install shop when I was having my second antenna placed (they do not last forever).
I have yet to lose a signal and am very happy with it being in the cab versus stuck to the roof of my truck and exposed to the elements. I live in a rural area and can not say that tall office buildings would interfere if you live in a city. For me this is not an issue.
