Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "2008 Tundra and back up camera", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Talking to the local dealer he is telling me that they do not sell a flip down monitor for my Tundra.. He is saying they are all fixed in the down position...
I thought I saw where they had either style...Can someone give me the part number for the flip down monitor?
Who is Sparks? Do yo have a link? I would like ot save money the local stealers want right at $700 for this set up....That's crazy, seeing I do electronic security for a living and know that the style camera they use costs around $100 and the monitor would be maybe $150 for a CCTV project...must be the custom Toyota colors that do it!!!

Camera and monitor should be here Tuesday this week...Nopw to do the install and from what I have read fight with the overhead console
Hi,
I have 08 tundra double cab SR5 V6 I received my OEM back up camera, I already installed the monitor the camera but the biggest pain in the aaaaa is I cannot find the pre wired connector on the bumper passenger side, why?? the only connector that I found is the one for the towing thing and a blank connector on the driver side. Is it standard for tundra truckz to be pre- wired for back up camera etc..?? because reading the forums here regarding back-up camera it looks like Iam the only one that is having a problem with the pre wired connector for back up camera. PLEASE HELP ME!!! PLease advise me what to do next
I have the DC Limited and the wire was right were everyone said it would be...It has a white cover on it. I took the cover off and plugged the camera harness in...
Total job took about 1 hour...Set up is great; especially when backing up to hitch up the boat!!!
Joe, please would you give more details about the unit you bought and how you installed it, especially the wiring aspect. Do you think the wiring on your DC will be the same as a CM? Can one apply the same wiring concept to the OEM NAV?
I think I read that if you have the v6 you have to have the sonar system or it won't be prewired. Only the v8's are. Better yet here it is
This Camera will not work on vehicles with NAV. For V-8's you must have Bucket Seats and either the Trailer Hitch or Sonar. V-6'S MUST HAVE SONAR. Increase your driving safety with a rear view, wide angle, visual aid. The miniature camera fits into the tailgate handle, while the compact screen snaps into the overhead console
