PSRage and JumboJet are tough acts to follow
but here we go! This is my first large post and my first attempt at a major audio overall, so bear with me on both accounts
. First off, the victim is a 2007 Tundra DC with non-JBL 6-disc system. Needless to say, she was in major need of an upgrade. First off, I'll start with the head unit. After a good bit of research and fingernail biting, I decided on the Kenwood DNX7100. Navigation was really important to me, and Garmin's interface is hard to beat. Here are some pics of the installed head unit.
I love the iPod interface. It's pretty intuitive and quick, which is nice when scrolling through my 7000+ songs. I also love that it does iPod video.
Here's where I ran my iPod cable to. It's not completely hidden, but it's easily accessible which I like for when I want to pull it out of the truck to find a particular artist or update it.
The navigation in this thing is top notch. Before this, I had a Nuvi and absolutely loved it, so the switch to the Kenwood was easy. For those of you considering aftermarket head units and navigation is a priority, give Kenwood's decks a serious look.
Here's where I mounted the bluetooth microphone. Bluetooth on this thing is great, people cannot even tell they're on speaker phone, from what I've been told.
And now the Sirius satellite antennae.
I went with a Boyo aftermarket backup camera and love it. Picture is clear in most conditions and it automatically adjusts for light conditions in less than a second. I wired it to automatically turn on when the truck is in reverse.

Next it was time to replace those fantastic OEM door speakers and throw some Dynamat Extreme in the doors. We'll start with the rears.

Thanks to asianflava for his writeup on how to use your factory speakers as an adapter. I went with a pair of Polk DB651's in the rears powered off the head unit.

Next its time for some Dynamat. HUGE thanks to Mark (JumboJet) for all the help he provided me throughout this whole project. This stuff was actually a lot easier to work with than I had anticipated. For anyone considering any kind of audio upgrade, Dynamat is a must. It makes a HUGE difference in sound quality and is possible for any amateur, I'm a perfect example!
It's not pretty, but it'll do the trick.

Next, we'll tackle the front doors. I forgot to snap some pics of the OEM speakers, but I assure you they're equally crappy as the rears, just bigger
For the fronts I chose pair of Polk DB6501 components powered by an Alpine MRP-F250 bridged to 100Wx2 RMS. These things SCREAM, I love it. Another shout out to Mark for hooking me up with all the amp/speaker wiring and convincing my reluctant a$$ to try the install myself! Here's the amp.

I bought some MDF 6 1/2" speaker adapters from
ebay and after a little black spraypaint, they were ready for their new homes!
With a little help from my hole saw and utility knife, I was able to flush mount the tweeters in my SR5 sail panels.
Back on with the doors!
Finally, we'll tackle the sub. I chose a Kicker CVT10 10" shallow mount sub in a shallow sealed box powered by a Kicker ZX300.1 300Wx1 amp. I love the sound of the sub. I listen to a HUGE variety of music and I love the accuracy and punch this thing can provide. Here are some "pics" of the amp. Kinda hard to see, it's covered pretty well by the floorliner.

To reduce some of the glare on the screen and keep prying eyes out, I went for a 20% front 5% rear tint.
