All -
I have an aftermarket stereo installed into my 2005
Sequoia SR5. It had the base stereo (which I have upgraded) and am having a major problem with my FM / AM reception.
Long story short, the install guys put my stereo in and didn't hook up the lead to the
power antenna - radio reception was crap. I pulled the dash off, hooked up the power antenna lead, and presto! Great reception! The car went back to them because they had to fix a few other things, and suddenly, the reception is terrible again. I pulled out the radio and the lead to the power antenna is still hooked up, but when I 'un-hook' it, my reception doesn't get any worse (one would think that it would). I have the larger of the two antenna's hooked into my radio.
Two questions that I CANNOT find the answers to anywhere:
1. Does my
car have a powered antenna? In otherwords, does it need to have the "power" lead hooked up to work properly?
2. Assuming the power lead is hooked up properly, does anyone know what else could be causing the power antenna not to be turned on? I can't find a fuse that relates to it.
Any suggestions on helping me trouble shoot my poor FM reception would be great!
Thanks!
