Default what's the best sound deadener?

hey guys, what's the best sound deadener to get for around $200. I'm probably gonna need somewhere between 75-100 sq.ft. to do my doors and the floor. any suggestions are appreciated.

I used carpet padding, the horsehair style. It worked quite well and it is very cheap. Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare it to, but did notice a big difference.
