Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Jl Audio Double Cab Stealth Box Anyone?", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just got my JL Audio DC Stealth box enclosure in and it looks like it will be a great sounding enclosure. I will post my experience as soon as it is installed. I just have to decide what I am doing for th erest of the system. Waiting for all the rest of the DNX-8120 Kenwoods to show up so I can send all the back orders, If I have any left it is going in the Tundra.
BTW. If anyone is interested in a stealth box let me know I will see what I an do. I am not sure who I need to cantact to get a permission but, I would like to see if I can do a GB for it.

I did some extensive research on this myself a few years back. While it's got very good ratings and people seldom complain about the sound quality, one major thing deterred me from getting it... I was purely interested in the stealthbox because I didn't want to do ANY cutting away of my Tundra's stock parts. But I found out that the storage compartment on the top of my center console would have been torn out in order to make room for the sub. So I had a shop build a custom box that replaces the center console that has cup holders on it (resembling the original console, but with no storage compartment). I have been researching how to make a sturdy box and plan to make a new one myself soon. I'm currently deciding if i should keep with a generic 'box' design, or do a cylinder-shaped box. Or maybe partially both?
P.S. I should add that I want to make a new one because the shop made the box too small for my sub. So I get a strong punch, but little resonance. Sometimes I turn on my stereo and step outside of my vehicle to see how it sounds from the street and no one would think I have a sub. So I plan to fix that.

The box shown in this thread is for the 07+ DC and goes under the rear seat. No Cutting required.

the main idea of a subwoofer is that it sounds good inside the car. the people that blare their subs with the windows down are the people that give the hobby a bad name. why would you want someone to know you have a subwoofer that you don't trust. thats like putting a steal me sign on your car. and yes this box is for an 07+ and the box you are talking about is for a 00-06 i believe.
to the OP, i really want to hear what this sounds like. any chance you could make a short video for us???
