Default 2006 Tundra DC Sub Box Started - Pics

Sorry, forgot my camera and only had my phone, but the shop started on the job this morning. I'm copying someone else's pics basically for the sub box.

Here they were marking the mold for cut lines, just before removing it.

Here was the mold removed, and ready to be trimmed for mating to a speaker board.

I'll update as it goes, but for now I arrived at the shop this morning at 11am, and they first pulled the seat and folded the carpet back. Then they marked and cut the front section of the storage well out. It's about a 12 inch section they added, which allows the box to hold a 10" sub.

They will be adding a MDF cap to the mold, to make it sealed, and then adding my 10" pioneer TS-SW1041 sub.

It will probably be another couple of weeks before they are finished, and I may not see it again before it is finished, but if I do I'll get a progress picture.

Keep us updated please. I'm interested to see how well it comes out and sounds. Any idea as to the cost yet?

If I had done it myself, I have no idea what materials would cost. But for the shop to do the cutting of the metal in the storage bin, take the fiberglass mold using 3 layers of fiberglass matting, and to build the box, it's costing $200. I bought my own Pioneer TS-SW1041 10" sub on ebay for $77, and I bought my own bag of poly fill on parts express if needed for $9.95 I think it was.

They had trimmed the mold when I called this morning are will next be mating it to a MDF top board. The top will be covered in that thin grey felt type carpet. I probably won't check on it again till after Memorial day.

I got the idea from here:

The truck still smells like a boat foundry every time I open the door though. LOL I'll have to let it air out some in the coming days.
