I noticed our local roofing supply store carried heavy rolls of a sticky butyl based roof liner. Makes me wonder if Dynamat Extreme, Damplifier Pro and RAAMmat might be custom labeled versions of widely available butyl based roof liners. Guess I should order some RAAMmat for comparison.

I used Peel & Seal roof liner a few years ago in a Corolla and it smelled a bit for only 2 weeks. But it was very thin so required 2-3 layers and after using so much it wasn't such a terrific bargain afterall.

One is on the storage bin cover, and the other is in the carpet. Neither will really come out so luckily they are under the rear seat.

I'm going to try to work on getting them out, but don't hold much hope. I quickly put cardboard down after that.

Luckily what I'm doing tomorrow/Friday will have all the interior pulled, so I should be a little safer, except the butyl will jsut be all over me instead. LOL

Not sure if the other products are this messy, but man is that stinking edge of sticky butyl a mess to deal with. Thinking of stopping at the hardware store for some metal tape jsut to cover those sticky seams with for less interior mess.

It actually comes out of the interior carpet pretty easy. I had it all over the place under the rear seats. It was on my shoes and I didnt realize it and I was stepping all over the carpet. I used some P21S/S100 Total Auto Wash diluted 5:1 and it came right out. Just let it soak for a few minutes to loosen it up. I would imagine interior carpet cleaner would work too, I just decided to go right for the heavier stuff.

Cool, thanks.

I found it will come off the seat of your shorts and tail of your shirt by pre-treating with OxyClean prior to washing also. LOL

Well, spent 13 hours today on deadning. Pulled most of the interior, from the lower pillars down. Pretty much everything but the dash and upper pillars and roof. I managed to get one solid layer of raammat on the whole floor, as well as 2 layers in the flat spots, 3 layers in some flat spots, and up to 5 and 6 layers in problems areas. Worst area I found, which sounds like a kettle drum, is on the very back deck behind the storage bins, middle of the truck left to right, and just in front of the rear wall. I've got 6 layers on it, and it still sounds like a drum. LOL

Managed to get one layer of ensolite down on the entire floor as well. I didn't finish the rear wall with deadner/ensolite yet, since I need to build my amp mounts first to know whats what. I also have to do my doors still.

I will say that after 13 hours, and being so sore now I can barely move, I didn't notice any earth shattering differences. I think the only thing that is apparent is that the noise seems to have moved up. Hoping doing the doors will make earth shattering differences though.

I've gone through 1 complete roll, and about 5 linear feet into the second roll at this point, with rear wall and doors still to go.

Also got 6 runs of 12 gauge speaker wire pulled and rolled under carpet until I get to that point, and 8 channels of rca's and bass knob wiring pulled and rolled under center console until ready. I'm going underneath with my 1/0 power wires I decided.

Two tips I've learned thus far:

1.) seal all the seams with aluminum tape, and it helps make the floor much cleaner. No rubber oozing out of the seams.
2.) Store the rolls in the air conditioned house before use, and start in the morning when it's cool. Harder to form and shape, but much less messy than doing it during middle of an ultra hot day.

I took a few of the truck with all the interior removed, but not of much else. Once my hands got sticky, and I started getting tired, I focused on just getting it done. Got the interior back in before I finished.

I unfortunately don't have fast enough service here at our cabin to get it posted, so I'll have to do it next week. Will post up what I have on the camera and phone though when I get to faster service.

Regards.

As I went along, I had to stop taking pics due to sticky hands. Didn't want butyl rubber all over my pentax. LOL

About a month ago, I finished installung 2.5 rolls of Raammat BXT in my DC and the only thing I found that will COMPLETELY remove the BXT from all surfaces (carpet included) is the spray gel type GOO-GONE (comes citrus scented). This stuff worked wonders for me. Highly advise that you give this a try and dont rub it into the carpet, just spray it onto a rag and then blot the surface you're trying to get cleaned. Guarantee it will work.

Thanks. I've been using goo-gone on my hands and it worked, so I'll try blotting it with a rag on the carpet spots too. Regards.

did anyone mention peel and seal? I have that in my tuck. Its less than a $ a sq foot. (or at least it used to be) I have it all over my truck.. even on the roof. Its eerily quiet, cost about 120 to do the whole car. Ambulances still scare the Ish outta me when I don't hear them coming and the sound coming from my stereo is superb.
