Default Question about sirius.

I just installed sirius on my tundra I bought the sirius kit from toyota and for some reason I keep losing the signal very easily, I cant even go under a tree and the signal is lost, it came with a big ugly square antenna and it sits right on the roof of my truck i hate the look of it, and also on the display it doesnt even show my signal strength. should I buy a different antenna?

I also instlled the toyota sirius kit, but my antennae is installed inside the cab at the top of the windshield and to the right of the mirror. It doesn't have the best reception but not much different from my former outside antenna. Being in SoCal, we don't have a very big angle to the sat. so we get alot of tree signal loss. I know other people have installed aftermarket antennas with good results. Do a search, you should find some.

You'll want to get that antenna as flat as possible. If you have it on the roof near the windshield then it is at too much of an angle. I have mine near the edge of my hood up on the plastic by the windshield wipers. I put a little foam based material under it to level it. Seems to work better for me there and you really have to be looking for it to see it.

Hope that helps.....

Default Re: Question about sirius.

I have a sirius sat unit as well, when I first installed it I had verry weak resption and no siginal strength. my ant. is on the roof about six inches in front of the third break light, I ran the wire thru the break light, under the plastic panels and then under the carpet to the center councel where I have my unit mounted. circut city has a connecter that hooks up to the radio ant. and has a wire that plugs into the docking station of the unit.
its a simple install just remove the center cover by poping out air vents there are a couple of screws behind the vents once the cover is off there are four screws holding the radio in, remove those pull the stereo out unplug the ant. and plug it into the adapter then plug the other end of the adapter into the ant. slot run the docking station wire to your unit and put it all back togather. its been about three years since I installed it so I might be missing a step , that's it in a nut shell there is no loss of siginal except under a few bridges but I get exclent reception.
