yea what he said is correct about the wiring.

as far as your box goes i would say make it .90 ft3 so that after displacement it will be somewhere around .82ft3 or .84ft3 i think that 1ft3 would be a little on the big side for that subwoofer.

edit: that size box will be good for your alpine too.

yup im prob going to go with the alpine .

Oh my friend was going to be building his own enclosure except his was going to be a ported enclosure for a 10 inch sub. i believe his sub is a polk audio db104 (so a single voice coil). so on his design idea he was bassicly going to build a sealed enclosure and put the port tube on the outside so a 4inch diameter and 12 inch long, but i though port tubes work only on the inside of the sub, can he do that or is he going to have to put the port on the inside?

a port is very mathematical. its on the inside of the subwoofer going out. makes things a lot more difficult. the thing is you cannot just slap a port on a sub. it has to be measured/ tuned correctly. having a vented(ported) enclosure is hard to build but if built correctly has very little distortion and can hit very low notes.

Subwoofer Enclosure Software

the winisd program will help a lot.

Ahhh, well.. he said now a ported sounded to complicated.. so he built a sealed one.. and make it a cubic foot instead of what the manual said (.85) ..

Oh and yesterday when i was helping my freind move out of her dorm, when we loaded her bike in she dented the sub.. would that effect the sound? its not a hole just a dent so it should still be usable.. just not as pretty?

and i just ordered the new amp said to take about a week . ground shipping.

congrats on the new amp. car audio can become a very complicated thing. where is it dented? on the dust cap in the middle?? if so then get some duct tape and put it on the dented part, then try and pull the duct tape off so that they dent will come out with it.
