Default Overhead DVD Install in 08 Seq with Pics

Attached are important details of my overhead dvd system (Alpine PKg-RSE2) install.
  1. I was able to use the pre-fab cut in the headliner behind center doom light to install my system
  2. The mounting plate slid thru the hole in the headliner
  3. The center doom light is mounted to cross beam.
  4. There is another cross beam 2 inch and 5 inch behind that, respectively
  5. I used two # 6 metal screws (.5 inch) to secure the mounting plate to first cross beam, making it like cantilever beam. It was sturdy enough that i did not install other screws to cross beam behind the first ones.
  6. The cross beam is about 1 inch deep before you will hit the roof top.
  7. Notice the metal screws, small holes to run the wire, B-Pillar wire route to my HU (AVIC D3).
  8. The unit is secured to mounting plate using M4 x .7 screws (1 inch long) instead of factory provided screws which are no more than .25 inch long.
  9. I have AV input and output from HU making it possible to send AV to and from either unit.
  10. Took about 6 hrs to install.
I will answer any question over next few days.

Thanks

I'm looking at adding a monitor in my 07 DC...thanks for including the instructions.
How hard was it to remove that center pillar cover(s)? I plan to run my wires in the same location.

I did...but that wont tell me "how difficult" it was in real life! I've read instructions that make something seem like a breeze...only to find out 4 hours later that some little clip or screw, etc. was a b*^# to remove!
I prefer "real world" experience.

The top part (light gray) was easy. Instruction helped find out that you have to take a screw out before you can take it out completely. bottom was easy too however i broke 2-3 fasteners so it is a little lose. I would suggest prying it open from top (mating face to top light gray part) and sides slowly before you yank it hard.

Good luck with rest of install.
