Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "07 DC Enclosure with Boston G1 10s", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I finished up a DC enclosure with two Boston G1 10s . Its very accurate and get plenty loud. Its also very well hidden once installed in the truck. If you have never heard G1 subs you may want to take a listen. They are Bostons entry level sub but theres nothing entry level about them. They rock plain and simple.
Do you still have the deminsions you used. And how much clearance do you have between the subs and seat. I have done a couple installs like this where the subs fire into the seat and if there is not a good couple inches, they get muffled pretty bad. As was the case with the first gen tundras installing in the rear compartment

This is the 46th DC enclosure I have built like this and it plays perfectly. No muffle . It sounds great. The bottom where the magnet goes is glassed.
what do you mean glassed? plexi? you'll have to show me pictures of that, i interested in what that looks like. Does that improve your overall sound. Also do you make them for sale and if so how much do you charge. Im having my truck leathered with the Katzkin black Rawlings baseball glove leather w red stitching so im either going to build a box and finish it with that or buy and refinish with that
Yes i build them and sell them . The bottom is fiberglassed . Its much thinner than wood and very strong .This a box I Vinyled for Kyle at PROFORCE MOTORSPORTS.

Whew, those surrounds must be very close to the bottom of the seat. Any problems with them hitting the seat? The speakers have a 4.75" mounting depth... add the front baffle and damn, how tall is the box? I assume you routed out the back side for the magnet?
The reason I'm asking is, I just finished a similar box with a single Alpine SWS-1023D. I have it firing down. I don't hear any issues with it hitting the floor, but it sure looks like it is.
Try brushing the carpet fibers in one direction under the sub..............run the sub through its paces................see if it leaves a mark on your freshly combed carpet.
You could use a light coating of chalk as well.

If you read up a couple of POST Kyles has the same subs. The bottom where the magnet sits is glassed so yeah its thinner on the bottom. Kyle says no hitting and they sound great .
I guess I should have read with a little more attention. For some reason, I assumed the bottom was a thin MDF that you glassed over to add strength. Anyway, it's a nice build - I esp like that one you vinyled.
@checkmate - thanks I'll try brushing the carpet. Not sure I'll try the chalk... there's so much air moving under the the box that it would most likely blow the chalk away.
