Default DNX5120 Rear view Cam question

Ive got my Kenwood DNX5120 all hooked up in my 08 double cab and the rear view cam does work but I cant get it to come on when the truck is not in reverse. There is a feature to hold down the nav button and the camera should come on, but mine wont work when I hit the button even though its set up to. If I put the truck in reverse though, it will come right on like it should. Anybody have this issue on theirs?

Thanks

Default Re: DNX5120 Rear view Cam question

I just installed the same DNX5120 in my 08 DC and I have noticed the same situation. It appears as though the camera is not powered up until the trans is put in reverse. This is why you only get picture in reverse. It hasn't been a big enough deal for me; so I have not considered modding the camera circuit to have the camera come on all the time. Two cautions about doing this: 1) the camera is 6V (confirmed) so do not connect to 12V source and 2) I read somewhere about the possibility of the camera overheating if left on all the time (unconfirmed).

Other than that, the head unit blows away the factory HU, especially with new speakers as well and the Garmin interface is bulletproof.

Good luck.

I made a second connection to the bed light switch so I could turn on then camera when I'm going down the road to look at whatever I'm pulling.
