Pictures Thread JL Audio CrewMax Stealth Boxes!

Rather than attach this to the end of my other thread I decided to start a new one.

I received my truck back today from JL Audio and the new CrewMax Stealth boxes are installed.

Some Specifics. They will be available in early August. Orders will be taken starting in July. Price will range from $850 to $1000 each this hasn't been set yet but that's the ball park.

There are two boxes a left and a right you can get either or both.

I haven't hooked up my amp yet but I did get to listen to them with their mobile amp connected to the speakers in my truck and they SLAM. So much so I need to Dyna-mat the Back wall inside the window cavity and behind the plastic.

The JL recommended amps are the 500/1 and the HD 650/4 which can be bridged to 300/2 at 3 ohm which is what the impedance of the 13 inch slim line subs is.


Now for some pictures lighting was bad do to the fact that it's dark here.

What are the dimension of those "bad-boys"? I don't have $800-$1000 to spend... but maybe do some DIY one.

So for the ultimate JL Audio system for the crewmax it looks like.
(2) Stealth Boxes ~$1900.00
(1) HD600/4 $800.00
(1) Kenwood Excelon head unit DNX8120 (JL doesnt make a head unit? $1500.00
(2) JL Audio ZR525-CSi $1700.00
a crap load of Dynamat and whatever other misc options like iPod hookups
So around $6000.00 just for materials? ouch....I'd rather spend that 6k on a supercharger
Please someone correct me that it wont cost near this much to still do it right. (prices obtained from crutchfield)

Dimensions are

23" wide
20 1/4" high
6 3/8" Depth at base
2 1/8 Depth at top

Also keep in mind these boxes are all Fiberglass and form to the rear wall the walls are close to an inch thick for strength.

Remove the back Plastic panel remove the Metal Window Motor cover drill hole through the cover and thread bolts through the holes drilled corresponding hole in the plastic panel, replace plastic panel remove sub from box put box up against back wall with bolt through the pre-drilled hole in the box and put on washer and nut and tighten. Replace woofer.

Not yet. I've decided to replace my Infinity Kappa's front and rear with JL Audio VR650-CSI Components and I've ordered some Dyna mat so I'll install everything when it arrives.

that seems like a very small air space to get good spl from the sub. i mean jl should have designed it with the simple removal of the plastic to retain a lot more space for the enclosure. however im curious to know how it sounds like that.

I was initially thinking the same thing however the Sub only requires .8 cubic feet in a sealed enclosure for it's best performance.

For the space it occupies it hammers and two of them hurt at high volume.

You'll need another 4 channel amp to drive those door speakers. That head unit (no head unit) will do those speakers justice.

I want the Pioneer Avic Z3 some day... if my DW allows me to commute to work with the truck daily instead of her Matrix. Darm gas prices!

I couldn't imagine having to use this truck as my daily commuter. Gas would cost me a fortune.

Fortunately my company provides me a vehicle and pays for the gas.
