i have a pair of 10" Visonik subsVisonik V101D4 Subwoofers laying around and want to use them for a small system in my truck. but with them being 4.75" deep it would be nearly impossible to get them to fit under the rear seats so i want to see what my options are.
one options would be to make a box so the face of the subs sit about 2" in front of the rear seat firing towards the back of the front seats and have the rest of the box tucked under the rear seat. any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.

i decided to build the box completely under the driver side rear seat. the box will be 5" high and i will do a simple mod to the rear seat for extra clearance, i RARELY have anyone in the backseat of my truck other than my dogs so i'm not too concerned with the seat angle plus it wont be an extreme angle difference.
i went to home depot and had 3/4" MDF cut to the sizes needed. tomorrow i will glue and nail the box together then cut the speaker holes out. i have enough left over wood to make an amp rack on the back wall, i will be attaching it by using metal braces mounted to the car seat strap harnesses.
the rest of the system will be made up of stereo parts from past stereos. the head unit is an Alpine single din, 5x7" alpine for the front, crossifre 5 "1/4 in the rear. the amps are a Dual 580wt 2ch for the subs and an old Kicker 6ch for everything else.

I'm doing the same thing for my DC but with 10's. I have an old pair of Image Dynamics IDQ10s with the same mounting depth. Called them and they said because of the air vent on the back of the woofer I needed at least an inch of free space so I'm going to have ot mod the seats to. I think 3/4 under the rubber spacer is plenty. Using 1/2" on the bottom of the box and 3/4" on the top for a total height of 6.25". Its gonna be tight but I'll make it work.
Also saw somebody used round magnets stacked to raise the seats up where the rubber spacer is. Thought that was a neat idea, don't know where to get the magnets though.
thats cool. i'm using 10" as well and i'll probably have the back seat angled up slightly for more clearance but it should be ok. my plan now is to have the box extend from one side of the truck all the way to the other side for more air space. the first box would be the minimum amount and i would prefer more

yea Jumbo's is nice. but since my subs arent shallow i have to make a few changes. i forgot to add the cutout at the box of the box for the seat mount in the picture but its been factored in to the square footage

My box is still holding up just fine and sounds great, but I've been kicking around the idea of building a new one out of fiberglass. This way I can get the bottom of the box perfectly molded to the contours of the floor......... but mostly its just another fun project to undertake. I'm going to stick with the same basic dimensions since the one I have now sounds so good. I'll start posting pics as I get started. But the dimensions I posted on my original box for my two 10's sound really good....... very tight and accurate bass.
this is my solution to installing a deep sub. i got this idea from a company that is making enclosures for frontiers. i saw them on the frontier forums when i used to have my frontier. they have little to no room under the seat, so this is what a few companies were doing to get subs to fit. will i hold up with the L7 pounding, i dont know. i havent installed it yet. but if it doesnt, ill just fiberglass the part with the cut out instead of using wood. i built this to be downfiring. the cut out part will actually push right up into the bottom of the seat. if you feel the bottom of the seat, it is very soft on part furthest towards the front. i did have to raise the seat a little to pull this off. ill have more pics as i do the install.

Boce, i'm not understand the way that box works. where does the speaker mount? and if its downfiring is there a port somewhere or somewhere for the speaker to breath?
