I have both the T1808 and the T1809 right now.

The seller lied to you. The T1808 does NOT have the color change option, it only displays in orange. I did a ton of research before I bought mine and found out that the T1808 is a basic model and the T1809 is the "Premium" model. The T1807 doesn't change colors, either.

While the T1809 does change colors, you only get a choice of orange or blue... that's all. But only the buttons change color, not the display screen. The display screen remains black & white. The only reason I upgraded to the T1809 was that the display is much nicer (it moves, shows pictures, etc) and I prefer the layout of the controls.

There are older "Premium" Scion Pioneer radios that have the color change option. These models are the T1805, T1806 and the earliest Premium model, the T1802. The T1806 is a 6-disc head unit, while the T1802 and T1805 are single disc.

While T1802, T1805 and T1806 do change colors, only the screen changes colors, NOT the buttons. Now, of the four colors that the screen changes to, you only get the original orange color, blue, green and pink... yes, I said pink. All four of the colors have more of a pastel shading to them and look kind of, well.... crappy. The green is like an aqua bluish-green that doesn't even come close to matching the green on Toyota's guages and dashboard lights.

One big problem with the T1806 is that the 6-disc changer mechanism is very fragile and prone to failure. It either locks up and shows an "error" message or (more commonly) the plastic gears wear out or break and your CD's get stuck inside and they won't play or eject after that.

Soooo... if the color change option for the display is what you seek, keep in mind that none of the colors will match your guages. Second, make sure it's a "Premium" model and you can actually see a button on th radio that says "Color" on it. There are a decent amount of T1805's and T1806's out there, especially on Ebay. But the T1802's are harder to find.

You actually have the best bang-for-your-buck Scion Pioneer radio with your T1808. It has most of the features of the earlier Premium models and has the iPod input ans Satellite Radio capability. The only thing it doesn't have is the color change option.

I'd keep it if I were you. It's a great sounding head unit and has a lot of cool features. That, and it's plug 'n play, which is nice.

If you want to verify what I'm telling you and also get a copy of the manual for your T1808, go to Scion's website at the below link and click on the various PDF files of each models manual. You can print yourself a copy of the T1808 manual from there and check out the features of each Scion Pioneer radio from the T1805 thru the newest head units and even the Scion Pioneer navigation unit.

BTW, I hope you didn't pay the same price as what's listed in your Ebay link.

I've had my mint-condition T1808 for sale in the classifieds here in this forum for about a week now, for less than half the price --- shipped!!

wow thanks that is the info i have been looking for, i have talked to three of the 5 sellers on fleabay that sell the t1808 and they all told me it had the multi color display, i did only pay 80 bucks for it and your right i think it is the best bang for my buck. im have also been playing around on the scion life website and learned a little about changing the LEDs inside the radio, i guess if i get tired of orange i could always give it a shot.
thanks for all the info you were more helpful then the scion people.

No problem, glad to have helped.

One other thing you might not know about your radio is that the SSP button actually has 6 different settings, not just 3.

If you push the button for a quick second you get the first three settings... ("Hear", "Feel", etc)

But if you push the SSP button and hold it down for about three seconds it jumps to 3 more settings where you can adjust the sound according to your type of cabin interior. Those 3 settings are for the 3 different Scion models and are listed as such... TC, XB and XD.

I've found the best setting seems to be on "Feel" with the XD interior for my 2006 Tundra DC, but tone is subjective. Give the new interior settings a try if you haven't checked it out, it opens up many more tonal possibilites.

Hey, just came across your post from google searching. You still have that T1808? And are you still looking to unload it? Let me know how much you want for it...
