With the extremity that you're taking this to, does this hinder your safety at all? Meaning, if someone honks or if car screeches from behind, can you hear them from a safe distance? Grant it, different horns on different vehicles will omit different levels of decibels, but you get what I'm asking.
Good question. Honestly, this looks crazier than it sounds. Sure, I've completely disassembled my interior and the bed, installed yards of sound deadening materials, filled every open void with spray foam, and I'm not done....but you will still hear emergency vehicles, angry drivers' horns, and various noises outside of the truck. This work doesn't make the cab into an anechoic chamber. It just reduces the amount of noise that enters into and is created by the truck.
If you've ever worn hearing protection, you've noticed a reduction in sound, but you could still hear most of everything that was happening. That's what this will do for my truck. And yours if you use some sound deadening.

Hey Buzz, you had a misprint. I fixed it.
As for emergency vehicles with sirens... that's why they have flashing lights too! Deaf people can get licenses just like the rest of us. Just ask Sanosuke!

I hope Toyotabuzz gets a decibel meter at RadioShack and tells us what the decibel
readings are in his truck at idle, full throttle and 70 MPH after he is finished with his mammoth project.

I actually own the world's most accurate sound meter, the TermLab from Wayne Harris Enterprises.
I will be producing a video showing the difference between a stock truck and mine. Of course, I'll let you know when it's up and running.

Hey Buzz, you motivate me, with your attention to detail. I imagine that you have inspired several people to put some kind of sound deadening in there tundra. You should almost be getting done with the actual sound deadening part of this project. What will be next, just give us a hint man, the suspense is killing me.
And also, I have another queston for you I have an 08 tundra DC, and I have this creaking popping type noise coming from my dash, windshield area, and have tried all the fixes that I can find on this site, and 2 trips to the dealer, it only really does it bad when the temps are cold, do you have any suggestions?
