Default Car stereo as mobile stereo?

I was wondering if anyone knows how i can do this. I have 2 car amps, 2 subs and 4 component car speakers. I just had my highlander totaled (disappointing) so i wont be using these until i get a new car next year. I wanted to take a sub, both amps and 2 of the speakers and hook them up to make them a "ipod 'mobile' speaker." So far i figured that i can run a mini stereo > rca , i got 2 power inverters (or i can just run them off the car battery).

The only problem i have right now is there a way to bypass the remote turn on? or make it so i can .. turn them on..

P.s. i already know a home amp sounds better.. but these are just lying around i rather put them to some use then storage.

Thanks!

Default Re: Car stereo as mobile stereo?

What you described wouldn't be too portable!

Using the headphone jack of your iPod will work, but the signal quality will not be very good. Keep in mind as well that the output voltage of an iPod is not much and you will have to turn the gains way up on your amps

Power inverters will do you no good. You need a DC power supply. The battery will work, but you will need to keep it charged, and you better not let the voltage dip much below 12 volts or you'll kill your amps quickly. If you plan to use this indoors, then you should use a DC power supply instead of a battery since the battery will give off toxic fumes.

You can put a jumper wire from the remote turn on lead of the amp to the +12 volt power connection to turn the amp on. You could put a switch on the remote wire as well to turn the amps on and off.
