Default 2000 Avalon Sub Woofer

I'm trying to take the sub woofer out of my 2000 Avalon so I can get it repaired. I've removed the cover, then took the brake light out and set the cover aside. Then I removed the 10mm bolts holding the bracket in place. Slid it over some and got the connector unplugged. However I can't seem to get it out through the hole in the rear deck panel. Am I going to have to take the panel out to get the speaker out?? Thanks for your help.
