Installing aftermarket amp on new 2010 JBL EOM system
DO NOT DO THIS AS IT CAUSES THE LEVELS TO THE DSP TO DROP BELOW THE TRIGGER LEVEL FOR THE DSP/AMP. YOU WILL HAVE NO AUDIO BUT IT DOES NOT HURT THE DSP/AMP. WILL UPDATE WITH OTHER OPTION.....
this might help you... see page 2 of the attached pdf doc......
On page 2 you will see connector K15 on the dsp/amp..
K15 has the right and left outputs from the head unit to the dsp/amp...
It appears that the head unit only supplies the dsp with left and right
and the dsp multiplex's the two signals to the other speakers and does
the crossovers for the tweets and the sub...
Also on K15 is a gray wire that is an acc lead that would work as a trigger
wire to turn on your amp. I would probe this pin with a DVOM in the DCV position
( or you could use a test light ) and turn the ignition on and off and verify that your
source voltage of 12v is turning on and off with the ignition in the acc position and the off position...
So if you intercept the head unit left and right signal prior to it hitting the dsp, you
would be able to use a line out converter to go right to the amp. And since the dsp
is under the pass seat, it makes running the wires to the amp much easier.
So here are the pins of K15 that you need to either cut ( i would not do that myself )
or tap into them ( probably the best way ) to get your amp fed. K15 connector is on page 10...
PIN 2 - Color Black - Left negative
PIN 3 - Color Green- Left positive
PIN 4 - Color Red - Right negative
PIN 5 - Color White- Right positive
PIN 12 - Color Gray - ACC voltage
K15 molex connector is the closest connector to the rear of the truck and it is a 24 pin white connector. There are 3 molex connectors on the dsp/amp and K15 is closest to the back seat. If you look at that connector you will see a black, green, red, white all in a row on pins 2,3,4,5... You will also see a gray wire ( acc ) on pin 12. Look at the bottom of the attached doc ( page 10 ) and you will see the pinout of K15. Now look at page 2 where it shows the color code of the wires from the head unit to the dsp and you will see that there is an "A" in a circle on the dsp side of the diagram. You will see that the "A" means that it is connector K15. I hope this helps you. If all you are trying to do is put subs in, this seems to be a painless way without butchering the wiring up.. I posted to multiple threads about this exact subject and was not able
to obtain any help so i just found the pdf doc on the web and figured it out myself by looking at the dsp/amp and the color code in the pdf..
My truck is a 2010 DC limited with JBL Nav system. The sub on this system is just completly terrible so i needed to figure out how to replace it and still maintain the OEM jbl system. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE WIRES AT THE AMP AS A HIGH LEVEL INPUT TO AN AFTERMARKET AMP AS THEY ARE ALREADY PROCESSED BY THE DSP/AMP AND IS AN AMPLIFIED INPUT TO THE FACTORY SUB....
