Any wanna give their 2 cents on Hertz audio hcx 165 or hsk 163. I haven't shopped audio in a while and the guys at a very reputable Atlanta shop suggested the hcx 165 and JL Stealthbox coupled with at an Alpine PDX 4.150 with a Pioneer DEH-p710bt. Seems like a good setup to me but wouldn't mind hearing some other opinions. Thanks

Hertz are an Italian made speaker, high end and different level of quality than most shops sell. Youre stepping up to the ranks of companies like Rainbow, Seas Lotus, Morrel and Dynaudio. All very high end companies that make excellent speakers. If youre going to buy a set of Hertz, audition them first at the shop. Make a CD with stuff you like and take it in with you. I heard a set of Hertz at a shop once, they were run active and sounded amazing. They were running off of a JL 450/4v2.
Looks like Hertz makes some nice drivers and the amps look decently made as well - who knows?
Those newer class D alpine amps are a big seller at most car audio places. I think their price point combined with the markup potential contribute to their popularity. I'm not that big of a fan of these amps, but they sure are super efficient and can put out a ton of power compared to class A/B amps.

The PDX, or ICE power amps are becoming very popular and will continue to be so. Small footprint, very efficient. I have two of the PDX amps (not in a vehicle install) and they've been pretty rock solid. Some seem to have some noise floor issues, but for most end users - they make a lot of sense.
Hertz makes some very nice drivers. The Mille line is superb. I will second the idea of auditioning all you can with music you are very familiar with to get a sense of how one set sounds compared to the other in the same setting.
The environment of your vehicle is a whole different story though. If these guys carry and suggest Hertz gear, then they should know a thing or two about installations. I would ask a lot of questions about their plan for your install. The installation/approach is more valuable than the subtle nuances between high-end drivers.
I would give them some high-level goals or requirements for your install and see what kind of plan they come up with.
You should ask questions about sound deadening/dampening, positioning, off-axis response (aiming), sound stage, passive vs. active, cut-off/crossover frequencies, etc. If they have intelligent/well thought out answers to all these questions, then you can trust they know what they are doing and can install/set up your system properly and you will be happy in the end.

If you can afford them the Mille line is an amazing speaker. I currently use Miller tweeters and nothing comes close to them in terms of sound quality. Also Hertz dealers have the ability to order individual drivers in either the high-energy or mille line.

Hertz is great equipment.. Same company and engineering as Audison. If you can listen to some in a similar vehicle, that is best. Many high end speakers do not perform in store sound boards, at least not like they should. There are many lines to Hertz, from entry to very high end. This was Audison's way to enter the "consumer" market without directly affecting the base brand.
I Just had a set Installed in my 06 DC. The Space K8L ( 8" woofer and 1" tweeter) in the front doors and ECX165 ( 6 1/2" 2 way coaxial) in the rear just for fill. The guys are right listen at the shop there is a big difference in the sound from the different lines. This set is very warm and has monster mid bass I like them but prefer a sharper sound.
alpine pdx series are pretty cool. Some say they could sound better. I run a pdx.600 to my sub and once I tuned it a bit was impressed by the sound. The card says it's actually 715watts rms rather than 600. It stays cooler than other amps I've had and since it is stackable it doesn't need as much breathing room.
Just 2 cents, I'm not a real audiophile.

For the money, you simply cannot beat Hybrid-Audio Legatia components. If anyone thinks differently, they're uninformed. They've won more SQ championships over the last several years than all their competitors COMBINED. If you aren't familiar with Scott Buwalda, you should do some research. Don't fall for all the marketing hype of other companies.
For amps, choose Genesis or Arc Audio SE series. For subs, Fi can't be beat for the money, whether it be the BTL or Q series. Sure, JL is nice, but WAY overpriced.
