Anyone ever install a Kenwood KCA-BT200 bluetooth module in a Kenwood DDX512 or similar double-din head unit?
I have all but given up on this thing.
1. The BT box is plugged into the head unit properly. There is only one connection that it can go into so its not like it is plugged into the wrong one.
2. There are 3 DIP switches on the BT box. I have checked them and rechecked them 3 times and they are correct.
3. I updated the firmware to the head unit. This us done by downloading the firmware package and burning it to a CD, then inserting the CD into the head unit and letting the program run. The new firmware version has successfully been installed according to the information in the HU's "Setup" menu.
4. I have attempted to update the firmware on the BT box with no luck. This is supposed to be done through a laptop with bluetooth capability. I cannot get the BT on the laptop to recognize the BT box.
5. I cannot get the "Bluetooth" menu item to show up on the HU.
Before I come to the conclusion that I have a lemon and call Crutchfield back and ask for a replacement (or refund) anyone have any other ideas/thoughts/suggestions?
I'm not even gonna ask if there is a setting on the HU to turn on BT..... seems like that would be pretty obvious compared to everything else you tried. You tried just about everything and anything that any one of us would have tried too..... maybe its just a bad BT module.

I think so too. I called Crutchfield last night and they are going to give me a refund. In the process of researching all this on the Kenwood website, I found out that even if I did get it to work, it probably won't support by Blackberry Storm.
Which is odd, because the Kenwood (different model) I have in my Corolla DOES support my Blackberry.
If the BT200 won't support my Blackberry Storm, I guess I have two choices: Sit around with my thumb up my butt waiting for a firmware update or find a third-party Bluetooth device that will support my BB and integrate with the Kenwood. Any thoughts?
And no, I'm getting one of those stupid hang-on-your-ear BT headsets. Those things look positively gay.
Those things remind me of maddona! I wonder if its the blackberry, I see it works with your wife's phone but my blackberry doesn't recognize anything. Maybe try a friends phone? Couldn't hurt.

I already sent the BT back to Crutchfield. Besides, the wife has the same BB that I do.
