Need info speaker adapter crewmax - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

I am planning on getting 6.5 components for the front and 6.5 for the rear doors. I have a 08 crewmax, non JBL. I am wondering where to get the adaptors for the fronts, I would like to just buy them. I also would like them in plastic. Do the rear speakers need adapters to? If so where to buy them?

Check ebay, I've seen the plastic adapters on there before. If not, I'd be happy to build you a pair.

You can go with custom adapters for the rears, or do what a lot of guys here have done and just cut out the cone of the cheap factory speaker and use the factory bracket as the base for your new 6.5's.

I decided that me and my brother are going to make both the front and rear adapters. I am going to use a template for the fronts I found on here, thanks Tahoe Texan. I think I will just spray paint the mdf to protect.

I painted mine black about a year and a half ago and they are still fine, I dont think too much water if any makes it to the speaker brackets.

I just want to know what to do for the rear speakers? Are they a wierd shape too?

The rears from the factory are 6 1/2". Most guys here are just taking a razor and cutting out the cheap factory cone and using the factory piece as the adapter. If you want to make the rears out of MDF just trace the factory piece on the MDF and cut it out.
