I am thinking about replacing my current fosgate amp & subs (all 03 models) with the current line. However I'm also considering on replacing the stock speakers with aftermarket ones and powering them with an amp. The current location for the sub amp is in the rear left compartment of the trunk (see pics). I want to keep the same box but instead of placing one amp in that compartment and the other elsewhere, I was thinking of installing them both ontop of the sub box. But I want to design something clever, maybe something like installing the amps on an angled platform (see pic of my artistic drawing). But the downfall is I don't want them to be exposed in that way (ie something dropping a bag ontop of them), I would like for something to be shielding it so I was thinking to place a plexiglass cover ontop of the amps while making the amp controls and wires accessible.
What do you think? Any other ideas you can come up with?? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something the average joe can build!

that's a sick box! wheres the fish? There is a problem with mounting amps on your box. It transfers vibrations directly to your amp. you would think amps could handle it but it can cause damage to the circuitry. show cars do it but many show cars aren't go cars, they don't see everyday use so they get away with things you can't. It looks good, but I would avoid it for longevity reasons.Good choice in products though, always liked fosgate.

I'm not familiar with the sequoia's interior. If you want them seen, you might make a plate using some 1/2" mdf to fit on the back of the driver side back seat. wrap it in vinyl that matches the grey or black color I see on your door panels. then to protect them a bit you could make a plexi cover to shield them. they need some breathing ability so dont seal them off. Or you might scratch the mdf/vinyl idea and do it in all plexi, like a showcase. Im not sure how to attach it to the back seat but it can be done.

I looked at the back seats and it doesn't look like there is a sturdy frame on the rear of the seat where I can attach the mdf board to. At the same time, I don't want the amps to be completely visible to the intruding eye, I would encounter the same problem with my original desgin as well.
I thought of that but your original idea seemed to dismiss the eyes of the thieves. There's always the traditional under the seat option. Also the less practical spare tire compartment, depending on space available, maybe mounted upside down on the cover. you only need access to the controls when tuning, once that's done you rarely need to adjust. where mine is its impossible to adjust but its set how I like it. my goal was to be close to tweaker-proof as they are the leading predators 'round here. check my pic for detail.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no room underneath the 2nd row seats for an amp to fit. And the tire compartment, well its actually located underneath the vehicle frame by the exhaust pipes. You can see the problem we'd encounter lol.
I thought of building a seperate compartment that would house the amps and be installed alongside one of the side panels in the trunk, but I need to work on the actual design to see if its feasible. BUT how about this...take a look at Pic #2. What if I installed the amps on the rear of the sub box, of course moving the box a few inches up to give enough room between the amps and seats.
hmm. I guess that sucks. If you do put them on the box directly, try to use some kind of rubber grommets to reduce the vibration transfer from the box. you might be able to make a case and use window tint inside to darken the plexi panels. maybe just on top to hide the amps a little. however, if your amps have bright lights like mine, they will shine through.

the window tint idea seems very plausible, so I guess my only 2 options are placing them on top or on the rear for a simple setup. i'll look into those rubber garments, i'm sure one of the auto stores around here should have them.
