Default Factory Head Unit

I have the factory single CD/Cassette player. I read and understand the steps of installing the RCA connections, but the instructions keep refering to "if you have the factory unit WITH the separate factory amp. Does mine have this? It sounds like some don't. What do I do in that case? I imagine that the wiring would be done the same way, amp or not.

If you headunit doesn't have an external amp, then you can't do yh pre-amp out mod, as there are no accessiable low-level signal wires.

I guess my question should be, which units have amps and which don't? My Tundra is an SR-5 4x4 V8, standard setup. Does anyone know if only the in-dash changer unit (which I DON'T have) has the amp? I'd like to know this before I go out and buy an amp. I guess I could take the head unit out and see, but I'd rather not if someone already knows the answer to my question.
