well i took the tundra into the dealer today to see if they could resolve this freaky electrical issue. they tried 3 different changers and a different head unit with all the same results. they took my head unit & changer and installed them on a different tundra. this test was successful so it's somethign with my tundra.
after 3 hours, the concensus is that the dash dimmer switch is the cause. when set to full bright or full dim, there is no issue with the cd changer cutting off to radio when the neadlights are turned on. but when set to a mellow middle setting, the issue arrises. the dealer will order a new dimmer switch to possibly resolve.

thanks for the heads up. i kinda figured that.
so i took the tunrda to the dealer today and they are stating that this is a known issue in conjunction with DRL. the service guy stated that there is some chip on the back of the audiovox sp-6cd that needs to be changed out. now why they didn't resolve this issue when installing on an '02 tundra with DRL...i do not know. the process would take about 45min, but i have to revist during the week.
i'll post after the visit..

Either a defective deck or a wiring problem.

when i got my tundra, the dealer tossed in a factory 6cd changer among other things. well, the work was done at the beginning of this month and all was good. about a week later i made a left turn at about 15mph while playing a cd in the changer. after the left turn, the cd changer stopped and the radio came on. i pressed buttons left & right but the cd changer wouldn't come back on. hehe, even restarted the engine but that didn't seem to make a difference! the next morning all was good with the radio, in dash cd/tape player, and the changer. was it a fluke? i dunno. matter of fact all is ok.....until...
{taking a deep breath now}
i changed the headlights to the super plazmas, disabled the DRLs (unplugged the plug), added the clear corners about 4 days ago. now for some reason, i will be playing a cd from the changer then turn the headlights on and then it just cots off the changer and goes to radio. what's going on here? is my truck possesed by the cd/radio ghost?
if i reconnect the DRLs then it probably wont do that, but that would make sense since the lights are already on.
help....
