wow, maybe i was wrong. 12-14 watts is weak! still, my coaxials sound good off the stock amp, they're just not real loud.

I got rid of 97% of the alternator noise by re grounding everything and running a new power wire to the eq from a different source - the rest of it comes from the eq, which I don't think I can do anything about without taking it out of the system. But I like the eq and usually play the music load enough that you really can't hear it

As for the hum from the dimmer switch..changing the grounds didn't help. I'm going to check the power on wire from the factory harness, that's where I think it's coming from. But for now I just leave the dimmer all the way up or down and no noise.

TMD-

Did you ever get your buzzing problem fixed?

What was the source and solution?

I can't remeber if you posted the resolution of that problem before the site went down.

If I remember correctly, when I removed the stock speakers they had ratings printed on them of like 12 or 14 watts.

Actually the factory head unit has no power. Stock it runs directly into a small amp that is right below it behind the dash. I would say that that amp runs around the 12 or 14 watts a channel that the speakers are rated for.

No way it is 60 watts.

i'm powering 4 jensen coaxials off the stock headunit, they're rated at 60w rms/120 max and they sound fantastic.

i believe it's 4x60w max, that means 60w when it's cranked as loud as it'll go and sounds horrible. realistically, normal listening volume is probably around 20-30w from each speaker. i wonder how they wired the tweeters into the front speaker wiring without changing the ohm load on the amp.

hmmm... I don't know for sure the RMS power, other than that it is low, but I think it's in the realm of 5-10 watts, now that is a guess, but one way to be somewhat more certain is to pull out your stock speaker, and it should have the max wattage on the back, should give you an idea of the power you are looking at. You shouldn't be able to play rockfords or jls off the stock cd player, but you might find some low powered speakers out of crutchfield or the like. something like blastpunkt I think

My Tundra has the stock CD / Cassette player. I am interested in some aftermarket speakers, but am curious about power. Does anyone know the RMS power of the head unit?
