Yo Chris S,

Were the Polks direct replacements or did you have to make some modifications to mount them?

Thanks.

I don't know, but I replaced both pairs of speakers w/ 4 ohm Polk components, and they sound MUCH better!

FWIW, I have a Ltd. w/ the in-dash changer.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna assume that the fronts are the 4 ohms until I can pull the door panel off and check to make sure.

i wonder how the amp is configured to work with this setup? i've been debating the whole impedance issue myself. if i wired 2 4@ 6.5" speakers and the stock tweeters in sequence, would it work with the stock amp?

I ran across this picture the other day and remembered about your situation but just forgot to mention it.

PICTURE

If I remember right, the only one of the speakers you had had the long dustcap (or whatever you call it) in the middle of the speaker. Whoever made this pic could have just used the rear speaker for the pic but who knows...

I can't remember either but... I'm thinking that since the front speakers are wired in series with the tweeters, the 4 ohm speaker and tweeter would have the same impedence as the 6 ohm speaker.
Thus making the 6 ohm rear speakers.

If I remember right, the front stock speakers were 4ohm and the rear were 6ohm.

Can someone tell me about the stock front speakers. Are the stock front speakers the 4 ohm or the 6 ohm. I have 2 sets but can't remember which was which. 1 of them, the 4 ohm has larger tweeters than the other ones. Anyone know? Thanks.
