Default AUX input for Tundra Stock Head Unit

Hey guys,

I ran across this thread in the 4Runner solutions area that was talking about puting an AUX input into their trucks. So, now I'm wondering if I can put an AUX input into our stock 6-disk changer head unit for an iPod or other MP3 player. This is what Glenn (NHParrot) reccomended.

http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_cata...itz_toyota.html

So, I called the company, and this is what the tech support guy said:

"It plugs into the back of the in-dash CD changer, and your truck has an option for another CD changer in the back. So, when this unit is plugged in, if you're listening to the radio, you press the CD button once to listen to CD's, and twice to listen to whatever you have plugged into the AUX unit."

Does this make enough sense for me to go ahead and do it?

I also heard SoundGate makes a lot of inputs, so I called them, and they don't make an AUX input for our trucks, nor do they plan to. No major car audio places (Circuit City, CarToys) have any idea what they're talking about on this subject (as if they used to....) so I'm trying to call some more local, knowledgable places, without much luck....

Can anyone give some more insight to this??? Thanks!

I found out the same thing from a stereo shop. I am going to try this same product. I hope it's cheaper than the one the stereo shop had that I was in. They wanted 100.00 for the stupid harness!

Thanks for the link. I am gonna call them on Monday and find out how much there product is!!!

Please give me some feedback about this. I really want to know if this works with an existing harness used for a sub/amp setup (which is what I have) or if I have to get a completely new harness. Thanks!!!

Not exactly sure what kind of harness you have now, but I have a sub as well. The RCA line is just tapped into the rear left and right channel from the stock head unit. If that is the kind you have, there should be no problem with the new harness for the AUX inputs!

Should be the same thing though. There should be no problem!

The harness that we both want to add plugs into a totally different spot on the back of the HU!
