Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "resettting factory needles on tundra..", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
question anybody on hear put those el glow gauges over the factory cluster?
I put mine in the other day (look's great ) however the factory gauges are way off(gas gauge, oil pressure, trans temp ,batt too) the only thing working right is rpm and the speed at which my truck is traveling...I tryed today to set them back to factory spec's with them on and the truck running which all of it seem's to work other than the gas gauge seem's too stay on full (and i fill it up today and drove 28 miles and the gauge still read's 'Full" and hasnt moved what's gives .....This is why i should have payed someone 100.00 to do this install oh well.....

I do not know much about the el glo package, but my gas gauge will not move after just 28 miles when full. Did it move after just 28 miles before the swap?
Wish I had a 04 Tundra that would be paid for in 9 months! That's great.

Well, hindsight is 20/20, so here is how I "saw" it:
Ideally, you get the truck at normal operating temperature.
Take a digital pic of the needle positions while the truck is running, or just use your memory if you feel comfy enuff with it.
Do the swap
Start the truck back up, and let it return to normal operating temp.
Replace needles over new cluster at original position.
Now that the positions are off, you are kinda screwed if you have no clue as to were they where to begin with. Onlt thing I can think of is to find a similar truck (year, electric &/or engine mods, etc.), and get a baseline reading of the guages and try those positions on yours. This will mean pulling the dash apart again, but that is what it will take to get it fixed.
Good luck!

You will see :
1.Your Vehicle
2. Select your vehicle from this list, on the drop box this is where you will make the change to your correct year of Tundra.
3. After you have made the correction be sure to click Save Changes at the bottom.
This will update the information of the year and vehicle information on your profile.
