Default JBL stereo system problem

Anyone have any problems with their stereo?

I just picked up an SR5 Tundra DC and I love the way it feels, drives and handles.

I am disappointed however with the JBL stereo system. My stock 2000 Tundra stereo sounded 10x better.

The JBL single disc stereo has absolutely no bottom end. The low frequency range is very small. I turn the knob from -5 up to 5 and there is not a very big difference. Usually pumping the bass up on any system would make it unlistenable and very muddy. This unti sounds about the same if my old system was set to Bass +1 or even less.

The rear speakers have very gain low and have little to no frequency response. I turn the tone dials and they make little to no difference.

I am hoping (praying) something is not right and this is not the way it is supposed to sound. We also picked up a Seqouia abd it has almost the identical system, except it has 2 more speakers and a 6 disc changer. The power should ouput per channel should be near the same. It sounds better far and away.

Anyway, gonna call my salesman tomorrow and see what we can do.

I am in Southern California. Hopefully something is not mapped correctly or we may have to play with the crossovers

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Anyone have any feedback for this model? It is the JBL 3-in-1 single disk changer with 8 speakers.

I'm really hoping that the engineers weren't thinking this would be a great new sound for the Double Cab.

I have no idea what the DC stero sounds like, but if it is how you describe, that is more reason to not pay for an upgraded stock system and just plan on yanking out the stock system from the get go and replace it with real quality components. Sorry you had to be a guinea pig.

Hopefully, that's an aberration and will be fixed under warranty. If it's a s bad as you describe, I doubt that it's functioning properly.

On another note, does anyone know why this topic was posted just yesterday and already has over 6,100 views!?

I agree. The OEM stereo setup is pretty weak IMO, but from you description something seems out of whack.

..and, OKCTundra, I noticed the "view count" thing on another post:

I thought the same thing about the JBL stereo im my CM until I realized the ASL (loudness) was turned on. Use the ASL for low volume listening and turn it off if you're turning the volume up.

It's just the way yu posted the original thread and the way Google picks it up. The Title is very generic and can mean lots of other things regarding JBL audio in general.
