Audio & StereoTechnical discussions about factory or aftermarket audio and video systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Better radio reception", within the Audio & Stereo forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Im missing out on some of my favorite radio shows. Ive searched the threads looking for better reception ideas and have only found internal antennas@ Radio shack to have better than OEM reception.
any advice? Nobody cares about San Diego's airwaves......

I too have issues with the bad reception. It's really annoying because in my sister's honda she gets stations I want in her car and then get the tundra and find that I cannot get those stations... soo very annoying...
I'm tempted to get those singal boosters i've seen in the crutchfield magazine.. has anyone used those?
I live in a radio fringe area, and get the best reception on the Tundra compared to any other car radio I've used.
I've tried the signal booster amps, and never found any benefit. If you try one, keep the packaging so you can send it back for a refund if it doesn't work for you.

Just get satelite radio. Its the best thing since sliced bread. You will get clear reception, no matter where you are in the country, and commerical free music, and much more variety.

I notice that with hondas..
not looking for a booster, a skeptic myself....
XM radio has been a option, but the only radio i really look forwarded to listening to is Stern and Leykis. Howard might be moving to sat radio because of all this BS. But I always enjoy Leykis on my way to work.
any other XM adivce, can you catch FM stations? I know nothing

XM is completely separate from AM or FM stations. Requires a separate receiver, antenna, and connection to your existing stereo. Sirius is the same basic idea. I have XM, and I love it. Don't have to put up with lame commercials, and I have a wide choice of music and such to listen to. They're even going to be doing local traffic and weather reports in some cities as well.

They took Howard off the air here in San Diego, right? Or is he on some other station?
I don't listen to him, but I heard that he was on one of the Clear Channel stations, which of course having been subject to recent programming "issues" in other locations, has since pulled him from the local airwaves...
