Default Tundra battery

Well, I had my first experience with the T's battery this morning. I have a brand new access cab with less than 1k miles. I went out to start it this morning and....no go. It wouldn't turn over. I had left the door slightly open, so my interior light had been on all night. I didn't think there was any way that little light could drain a brand new battery, but I was wrong. Lesson learned. I'm tempted to stick something in there with a little more juice and reliability. Has anyone else had similair problems? Should I stick with the original battery?

go with the Optima Battery, made by Interstate Batteries.
I've never known of a dissapointed Optima owner.

I agree completely. I've got a Optima in my 69 Torino that's been in there since 1997 and it's still strong. I'll certainly replace my original Tundra battery before this winter with a Optima.

Dido to the optima. You'll need a spacer tho for it to fit. Also be sure to get the reversed pole model

Just recharge the battery and don't leave the door open next time. Probably if you had the new battery you could leave the door open longer though! I wouldn't get the new battery until the old one is shot.

Agreed......don't get rid of the "new" battery. Just recharge it. That's happened to me before, too......leaving the door ajar with an inside light on all night.

Default Dead Battery

Optima batteries are all I put in my cars/truck anymore.

Good amp output
Never any battery acid eating my battery tray
Long warranty
The peace of mind is worth the few extra bucks.

Do the battery manufacturers make spacers or did you fashion one to fit?

I got a spiral core gel battery too but I got the Exide Orbital instead of the Optima. It was about $50 less and the poles are already reversed so you don't need to hunt for a certain model to fit the Tundra wiring layout.

Optima had an orange top model. same as the red top except the polarities are reversed. not sure if they offer it anymore. My orange top isn't even charging anymore. I think the accident may have done something to it, to the point it doesn't hold any charge.

Don't forget about those two cargo lights in back that were also on if the door was ajar. That would be the two door lights, the dome light and the two cargo lights on all night. Another reason to change out those bulbs for LED's that don't take nearly as much juice. I agree with the previous posts - just charge it up and be sure to set the alarm. If the door is partially open and you try to set the alarm, you'll get a steady beep indicating the door isn't shut.
