Default Straight Swap - 1Disc JBL to 6Disc JBL '04 4Runner?

I'm guessing that the single disc JBL 10 speaker system head unit is a straight swap with the 6 disc JBL head unit. Can anybody confirm this?

I think I have contradictory news:

I have an 04 DC Tundra with the single disc JBL system and I have an external amp on the back wall.

I am uncertain about the inter-operability of the two head units, but there is an amp there.

This can be confirmed by looking at the wiring diagrams in the knowledge base section.

Responses! All the info is there - assuming 4Runner HUs and yes what I've got is the synthesis system with the amp in the back of the truck.

What's the changed posts mustang67408? BTW a large part of engineering is based on educated guesses otherwise known as assumptions.

In my job, assumptions always get you in trouble.
Educated guesses are a last resort. If no other information can be found.
I was unclear as to which radios were being asked about. So i asked for more details. You can never have to many details.

This statement tells me nothing about yr make or model. Many people here have many different toyotas. All i wanted was clarification.
My original radio in my truck was a single disc (internal amp), I swapped it for a JBL 6 discand had to add the external amp.
Many years/makes/models have many different combinations of equippement. Some interchange and some dont.
Your original statement was unclear to me.
I am of no help to you, sorry.
maybe another person can answer your question.
have a great week.

Talking Radio help

I've done a lot of research for my 04 Sequoia and found that anything other than the 04 is an analog system, the 04 is a radio system and needs a digital signal to the speakers to work. I'm not sure if it's the same for yours. but I'd say that you need a digital head unit and amp for it to work.

Default Re: Straight Swap - 1Disc JBL to 6Disc JBL '04 4Runner?

I have a JBL unit with the number of AD6805 parts, whose parts number is 86120-08120. Anyone could please tell me all other compatible model numbers with this one? I am considering other cd players, mp3, dvd or cd changers to replace it and I hope I can just plug and play. So anyone can give me a list of the equipment that can replace mine? Thanks.

BTW, anyone could please tell me where is the button that starts a new thread?
