Default 2005 Tacoma X-Running & Valentine One

I just go a new 2005 X-Running and I am not sure where to mount my Valentine One. I used to have a 2000 Prelude and I used the suction cups to mount it above the rear view mirror to the front windshield, but that does not seem to work on the Tacoma. The Tacoma has those black dots on the windshield and the suction cups will not stick because of them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

i mounted mine right beneath the rear-view. (on a 05 PreRunner). Looks pretty clean.

Your're right though, top of windshield is black (tinted?) anyhow works fine right beneath the rear-view.

Hope that helps.

I might have to do that, but the Valentine one will be visible there...and I'd like it to be out of sight.

Any other suggestions?

I'd put the display where the clock is. Oh and it's called an X-Runner.

Hey timeknight,

Here's some food for thought....

I don't know how the HP works out west, with regard to tickets, but here in North Carolina, when they stop you and you have a radar detector visiable in the car, that's pretty much... sealing the deal for a sure-fire ticket! What I mean by that is... no matter "WHERE" you've got it mounted, if the cop sees it, there's no talkin' your way out of the REAL thing [ticket] or even into an improper equipment violation, which here in NC, doesn't put points on your license or insurance. Just court cost and that's it. I'll take that ANY day over a moving violation!

So, that said, I've got mine mounted right under the rear view as well, just like lilaztfats81. Usually, when you get clocked or you see ole' "smokie" is after you; you have a few (and I do mean a few) seconds, to rip the radar detector down and hide it, before he can see you do it! Using suction cups, makes this easy! Now, once you're stopped and since he's only pulled you for speeding (hopefully), and he sees no radar detector, you have a chance at least (depending on the cop's attitude that day) to talk your way out of it!

Mount it under the rear view and let that be it. It's easier to yank it down (if you need to) and hide the darn thing!

Instead of mounting it under the rear view mirror, I have mine mounted behind the mirror with it sticking out a bit on the farside (so that only the rear antenna is unobstructed). My remote display is mounted on the steering column.

This makes it look a bit more concealed. Whenever I go through a road check or customs, I never need to remove it because it cannot be seen from the driver's side. From behind, it's silouette blends in with the mirror so it doesn't stand out too much. The hardwired power cord goes along the headliner and down the a-pillar.

I placed a clear piece of packing tape above the rear view mirror over the black sunshade bumps, then i busted out the hot glue gun plugged into the outlet in the bed and glued the suction cups to the tape, that way i can peel it off later, very snug and out of sight. hope this helps, along with your pronounciation of X-RUNNER

I have a X-Runner Rear "X" Brace for sale. I had a U-Haul hitch installed for towing the toys, no need for it anymore. Helped a lot with cornering, and ride stability before installing hitch. Will fit any 05-07 Tacoma.
